Moonjai Education Terms and Conditions

Moonjai is a study app for Tanzanian secondary students and teachers, available in English and Kiswahili. These terms explain the agreement between you and Moonjai LLC, a Washington company based in Seattle, United States, when you use our app, website and related services.
By using Moonjai, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information. For help, contact info@moonjai.com.
1. Who can use Moonjai
Moonjai is for people aged 13 and over. If a student selects under 13 during setup, the app stops and deletes the guest account. We rely on people giving an accurate age group.
Students aged 13–17 can browse as guests. A parent or guardian must approve before they create an account. The adult reads the notice in the app and confirms an email address. Approval covers the account, AI features and public posting; AI use also requires a separate agreement in the app.
We confirm the email address, not the adult’s relationship to the student. The adult must be the student’s parent or guardian. They can withdraw approval by emailing us, which means deleting the student’s account. The Privacy Policy explains the approval record.
2. Accounts and daily credits
Guests can browse study materials and use limited previews and feedback. An account is needed for AI features, uploads, public posting and saving work online. You can register with Google or with an email address that you verify.
Keep your sign-in details secure, give accurate account information and contact us if someone else may be using your account. Do not share or sell accounts, impersonate someone, or bypass age checks, parent approval or usage limits.
Moonjai currently has no in-app payments. Verified accounts receive daily credits to share the cost of running resource-intensive features. The allowance resets at midnight Tanzania time, and the app shows current costs. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred and do not carry over to the next day. We refund a request’s reserved credits if we fail to deliver its result.
We may change allowances and usage limits. If we introduce paid features, we will explain the price, payment, renewal, cancellation and refund terms before you buy.
3. Learning with AI
AI can help explain a topic, work through a question or prepare study material. It can also make mistakes, miss context or give an unsuitable answer. Check important work against your teacher, textbooks or official examination sources. Moonjai does not guarantee grades or examination outcomes.
AI features send relevant content to the providers named in the Privacy Policy. Images help the AI read your question, while recent discussion and study context help it give more accurate and relevant explanations. Google Cloud helps find relevant passages from Moonjai’s custom notes to support those explanations. You can review or withdraw AI permission in Profile → App settings → AI & data. Non-AI features remain available.
Use Moonjai for learning and teaching. Do not use it to cheat in an examination or complete work where outside help is forbidden.
4. Community answers and fair use
Community answers appear under your chosen Moonjai nickname and avatar. Before posting, you agree to the in-app community rules and AI screening. We screen submissions to help keep answers relevant and safe. Screening can make mistakes, so reporting and blocking tools are also available.
Use Moonjai respectfully. Content or conduct involving the following is not allowed:
- Bullying, threats, hateful abuse, sexual exploitation, or harm to children.
- Sexually explicit content or encouragement of violence, self-harm or dangerous activity.
- Publishing another person’s private information without permission.
- Fraud, impersonation, spam, malware or attacks on the service.
- Copyright infringement or other unlawful activity.
Do not bypass security or usage controls, scrape the service at scale, automate access without permission, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows. Do not use content to train another model or build a dataset where doing so would infringe our rights or someone else’s.
Guests and account holders can report an answer or block a contributor. Account holders can also delete their own answers. We may hide or remove content, investigate reports, or restrict an account when needed to protect users or enforce these rules. Contact info@moonjai.com about a moderation decision or safety concern.
5. Your work and other people’s material
Your contributions remain yours. You must have the right to share what you submit. By posting, you allow us to store, display, format, moderate and distribute it as needed to run, protect, improve and promote Moonjai, without paying a fee for that use. This permission ends when the content is deleted from our active systems, apart from permitted safety or legal records.
Public answers may be copied or captured by other users. Anyone with a direct image link can view that image. Deleting an answer cannot remove copies someone else has already made.
Moonjai’s original work—including its app, branding and original study materials—belongs to Moonjai or its licensors. You may use it through Moonjai for personal study and teaching. This permission does not transfer ownership and may end if you break these terms.
Moonjai is independent. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by NECTA, TIE, the Government of Tanzania, regional or district examination committees, or school associations whose material appears in the app.
Moonjai’s study notes are original content created for the app. We also make publicly available national examination papers and mock exams available for study and teaching, alongside worked answers and analysis. We do not claim ownership of those papers or published results, or suggest that their creators endorse Moonjai.
If you own rights to material in Moonjai and would like it removed, email info@moonjai.com with its title or a link and enough information for us to confirm your request. We will respond promptly and remove it once we confirm that the request comes from the rights holder or their representative.
6. Privacy and leaving Moonjai
The Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who receives it and how long we keep it. Camera, file and microphone permissions are optional; declining one affects only features that need it.
You can delete your account in Profile → Delete Account or by emailing us. We aim to complete email requests within seven days after confirming your identity. The account deletion page explains what is removed, the limited records that remain temporarily, and how to clear copies from your phone.
7. Availability and responsibility
Moonjai needs an internet connection and a supported device. Security checks may prevent it working on some devices. Outages, maintenance or changes to features can happen; we cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every feature will remain available. Where reasonably possible, we give notice of significant changes.
We provide Moonjai as it is available, without promising that every explanation or result is correct or suitable for every purpose. We cannot take responsibility for decisions based only on an AI answer or for breaking school or examination rules.
Where the law allows, we exclude guarantees that are not stated in these terms and liability for indirect losses that could not reasonably have been expected. Nothing here removes a consumer right or responsibility that the law does not allow us to exclude.
8. Questions, disagreements and changes
If something goes wrong, email info@moonjai.com so we can try to resolve it. You can contact a consumer or privacy authority at any time; you do not have to contact us first.
We may update these terms as Moonjai changes. We will show the new date and give additional notice of significant changes. Where the law requires fresh agreement, including a parent’s approval, we will ask for it rather than treating continued use as agreement.
